It was clear from the beginning that the kitchen was going to be the first "big" project in the house. Once again, the previous owner's choice of paint color was slightly off from what ours would be. The cabinets and hardware hadn't been updated in years, the light fixtures were from the seventies, and the appliances needed some upgrading. First thing is first....Demo!
After we knocked down the cabinets the space became so much more open and social...which is great for our dinner parties. |
The new light fixture and paint color....Sherwin Williams "techno gray". |
In place of the cabinets we added some simple shelves for vases/glass. |
The new light fixtures over the sink. |
The window without the over hang..brings in so much more light. |
Cute little vases on the wall that hold mixed beans...can change out with the season. |
To finish it off, we put up a small back splash behind the stove and purchased new hardware for the cabinets and rugs.
And now we are off to our next project....the yard!
Amazing! The house that you were able to purchase is quite spacious. Isn’t that great? It looks like all your expectations for a new house were met. You must have a very good realtor. Even though the previous owner's choice of paint color was slightly off, I can see that you are making progress with the renovations. So how is it now? I bet it will be terrific! ReplyDeleteHey there, Stephanie! What could be more exciting than to renovate your own home and transform it to something that will your personality and character, right? I must agree with Leona; you’re doing great in the renovation process. Your version of the kitchen is fantastic. The design of the backsplash added an interesting feature to your kitchen. I think my wife and I would consider this when we renovate ours. Are there any recent additions to your kitchen, or your home? Hope you'd share it with us!

ReplyDeleteI like where the windows are. It’s big enough for the light to pass through and shine on your beautiful kitchen. It's alright not to have anything to hang there because the outside view is nice. Though, putting light colored curtains could add drama to the place, depending on your mood, of course. How old is this house? It seems new. I think, the only thing that you should change is the paint, the rest seems to be okay. Anyway, it's just my opinion. I hope you chose the right color(s) and got the look that you want. Have a nice day!

Thank you for the kind words. Our house was built in 1961...so just over 52 y/o. We are having such a great time fixing it up. So far the previous posts show the inside work that we have done minus the guest bedroom we just redecorated (I will try and get up so pictures of that soon). The paint colors have all come out great...you can see most of them on my previous post. The kitchen pictures do not do it the "techno gray" justice...it's a lot lighter than it appears.
ReplyDeleteMost recently we have been tackling our front and back yard, lots of updates. As soon as I get some free time I will be posting the progress!
